Rumors of a El internado reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Friday (April 19) as reports claimed that Antena 3 confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2025.

Can you believe it's been 16 years since El internado first aired?! (16 years, 10 months, 27 days to be exact.)
Why in the world did El internado end?
When El internado came to an end after 4 years in October 2010, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Jacinta García Aparicio (Amparo Baró), Héctor de La Vega (Luis Merlo), Elsa Fernández Campos (Natalia Millán) and Iván Noiret León (Yon González). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Would an El internado reunion disappoint people?
El internado aired from 2007-2010 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Millán said she's not sure if El internado would work today. “I don't want to see old Elsa Fernández Campos,” she told a journalist (Millán turned 54 in November). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” she added.
Still hoping for an El internado movie?
In a recent interview, Amparo Baró said she can't imagine an El internado reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Ana de Armas (who played Carolina Leal Solís) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did an El internado movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be an El internado film, Blanca Suárez stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
What about an El internado reboot?
Recasting El internado for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
Be it in the form of an El internado reunion, an El internado movie, or an El internado reboot, if you had to start filming today, who would you cast in what role?
