Why in the world did MacGyver end?

When MacGyver came to an end after 7 years in May 1992, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would a MacGyver reunion disappoint people?

MacGyver aired from 1985-1992 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Anderson said he's not sure if MacGyver would work today. “I don't want to see old MacGyver,” he told a journalist (Anderson turned 74 in January). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.

Still hoping for a MacGyver movie?

In a recent interview, Richard Dean Anderson said he can't imagine a MacGyver reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

What about a MacGyver reboot?

Recasting MacGyver for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
