Why in the world did the Dukes of Hazzard end?

When the Dukes of Hazzard came to an end after 7 years in February 1985, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Bo Duke (John Schneider) and Luke Duke (Tom Wopat). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would a Dukes of Hazzard reunion disappoint people?

The Dukes of Hazzard aired from 1979-1985 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Schneider said he's not sure if the Dukes of Hazzard would work today. “I don't want to see old Bo Duke,” he told a journalist (Schneider turned 54 in April). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.

Still hoping for a Dukes of Hazzard movie?

In a recent interview, John Schneider said he can't imagine a Dukes of Hazzard reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Tom Wopat has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Dukes of Hazzard movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

What about a Dukes of Hazzard reboot?

Recasting the Dukes of Hazzard for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
