It has been exactly 34 long years since Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Allen Collins died in Jacksonville on January 23, 1990 at the age of 37. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed guitarists of his generation.
Today, fans of Allen Collins along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Born Larkin Allen Collins Jr. in Jacksonville on July 19, 1952, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Collins was not just a great guitarist, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
