It has been exactly 8 long years since ‘Southern Nights’ author Allen Toussaint died in Madrid on November 10, 2015 at the age of 77. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed singers of his generation.

Today, fans of Allen Toussaint along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Born in New Orleans on January 14, 1938, Allen Toussaint's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Toussaint was not just a great singer, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
