It has been exactly 29 long years since Ayrton Senna died in Bologna on May 1, 1994 at the age of 34. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed racing drivers of his generation.

Today, fans of Ayrton Senna along with the rest of the sports world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Senna, a cultural icon

Born Ayrton Senna da Silva in São Paulo on March 21, 1960, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Brazilian history. Senna was not just a great racing driver, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.

It's been 29 years since the tragic loss of Ayrton Senna and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Ayrton Senna is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
