It has been exactly 63 long years since Clark Gable died in Los Angeles on November 16, 1960 at the age of 59. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Gable, a cultural icon
Born William Clark Gable in Cadiz on February 1, 1901, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Gable was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
