It has been exactly 19 long years since Indian Communist leader E. K. Nayanar died in New Delhi on May 19, 2004 at the age of 84. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed politicians of his generation.
Today, fans of E. K. Nayanar along with the rest of the world have been remembering the iconic man he was.
Nayanar, a cultural icon
Born Erambala Krishnan Nayanar in Kalliasseri on December 9, 1919, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Indian history. Nayanar was not just a great politician, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
