Remembering Florence Arthaud, 9 Years Later

It has been exactly 9 long years since The Little Fiancee of the Atlantic Florence Arthaud died in Villa Castelli on March 9, 2015 at the age of 57. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed sailors of her generation.

Today, fans of Florence Arthaud along with the rest of the world have been remembering the iconic woman she was.

Arthaud, a cultural icon

Born in Boulogne-Billancourt on October 28, 1957, Florence Arthaud's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Arthaud was not just a great sailor, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique heritage.
