It has been exactly 50 long years since Former French President Georges Pompidou died in Paris on April 2, 1974 at the age of 62. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed politicians of his generation.

Today, fans of Georges Pompidou along with the rest of the world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Born Georges Jean Raymond Pompidou in Montboudif on July 5, 1911, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Pompidou was not just a great politician, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
