It has been exactly 9 long years since Jacques Chancel died in Paris on December 23, 2014 at the age of 86. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed journalists of his generation.

Today, fans of Jacques Chancel (Le Grand Échiquier, ...) along with the rest of the world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Born in Ayzac-Ost on July 2, 1928, Jacques Chancel's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Chancel was not just a great journalist, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
