It has been exactly 7 long years since Leon Russell died in Nashville on November 13, 2016 at the age of 74. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed musicians of his generation.

Russell, a cultural icon
Born Claude Russell Bridges in Lawton on April 2, 1942, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Russell was not just a great musician, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1970 he touched the hearts of millions with ‘A Song for You’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.
It's been 7 years since the tragic loss of Leon Russell and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Leon Russell is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
