Remembering Louis de Funès, 41 Years Later

It has been exactly 41 long years since Louis de Funès died in Nantes on January 27, 1983 at the age of 68. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Today, fans of Louis de Funès (The gendarme, The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, La Grande Vadrouille, A Pig Across Paris, ...) along with the rest of the film industry have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Born in Courbevoie on July 31, 1914, Louis de Funès' career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. de Funès was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1956 he touched the hearts of millions as Jambier in ‘A Pig Across Paris’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.

It's been 41 years since the tragic loss of Louis de Funès and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Louis de Funès is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
