Remembering Mikhail Kalashnikov, 10 Years Later

It has been exactly 10 long years since AK-47 inventor Mikhail Kalashnikov died in Izhevsk on December 23, 2013 at the age of 94. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed soldiers of his generation.

Today, fans of Mikhail Kalashnikov along with the rest of the world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Mikhail, a cultural icon

Born Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov in Kouria on November 10, 1919, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Russian history. Mikhail was not just a great soldier, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.

It's been 10 years since the tragic loss of Mikhail Kalashnikov and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Mikhail Kalashnikov is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
