Former manager of the France national football team Raymond Domenech is celebrating his 72nd birthday today. As a number of online tributes attest, he is one of the most acclaimed athletes of his generation.

Born in Lyon on January 24, 1952, Raymond Domenech's career spans an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history.
