Remembering Simone Signoret, 38 Years Later

It has been exactly 38 long years since Simone Signoret died in Autheuil-Authouillet on September 30, 1985 at the age of 64. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed actresses of her generation.

Today, fans of Simone Signoret (Army of Shadows, Diabolique, Casque d'or, ...) along with the rest of the film industry have been remembering the iconic woman she was.

Signoret, a cultural icon

Born Simone Kaminker in Wiesbaden on March 25, 1921, her career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Signoret was not just a great actress, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1955 she touched the hearts of millions as Nicole Horner in ‘Diabolique’. Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique heritage.

It's been 38 years since the tragic loss of Simone Signoret and her personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Simone Signoret is no longer physically here, her presence is more powerful than ever. She left a void that has yet to be filled.
