‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Reunion 2027 — Is It Happening?

Rumors of a Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Thursday (April 23) as reports claimed that ABC confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Can you believe it's been 12 years since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. first aired?! (12 years, 7 months, to be exact.)

Why in the world did Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. end?

When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came to an end after 7 years in August 2020, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet), Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. reunion disappoint people?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. aired from 2013-2020 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Bennet said she's not sure if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would work today. “I don't want to see old Daisy Johnson,” she told a journalist (Bennet turned 34 in April). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” she added.

Still hoping for an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. movie?

In a recent interview, Luke Mitchell (who played Lincoln Campbell) said he can't imagine an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Natalia Cordova-Buckley (who played Elena Rodriguez) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. film, Chloe Bennet stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”

What about an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. reboot?

Recasting Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
