Rumors of a Defiance reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Thursday (September 24) as reports claimed that SyFy confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2021.

Can you believe it's been 7 years since Defiance first aired?! (7 years, 5 months, 10 days to be exact.)

Why in the world did Defiance end?

When Defiance came to an end after 3 years in August 2015, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Joshua Nolan (Grant Bowler), Stahma Tarr (Jaime Murray), Amanda Rosewater (Julie Benz), Irisa Nyira (Stephanie Leonidas) and Datak Tarr (Tony Curran). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would a Defiance reunion disappoint people?

Defiance aired from 2013-2015 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Curran said he's not sure if Defiance would work today. “I don't want to see old Datak Tarr,” he told a journalist (Curran turned 50 in December). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.

Still hoping for a Defiance movie?

In a recent interview, Linda Hamilton (who played Pilar McCawley) said she can't imagine a Defiance reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Julie Benz has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Defiance movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be a Defiance film, Grant Bowler stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”

What about a Defiance reboot?

Recasting Defiance for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
