‘Hell on Wheels’ Reunion 2025 — Is It Happening?

Rumors of a Hell on Wheels reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Friday (April 26) as reports claimed that AMC confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2025.

Can you believe it's been 12 years since Hell on Wheels first aired?! (12 years, 5 months, 21 days to be exact.)

Why in the world did Hell on Wheels end?

When Hell on Wheels came to an end after 5 years in July 2016, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Elam Ferguson (Common), Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount) and Thomas C. Durant (Colm Meaney). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would a Hell on Wheels reunion disappoint people?

Hell on Wheels aired from 2011-2016 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Meaney said he's not sure if Hell on Wheels would work today. “I don't want to see old Thomas C. Durant,” he told a journalist (Meaney turned 70 in May). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.

Still hoping for a Hell on Wheels movie?

In a recent interview, Colm Meaney said he can't imagine a Hell on Wheels reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Jonathan Scarfe (who played Sydney Snow in 2014) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Hell on Wheels movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be a Hell on Wheels film, Robin McLeavy stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”

What about a Hell on Wheels reboot?

Recasting Hell on Wheels for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
