‘House of the Dragon’ Reunion 2027 — Is It Happening?

Rumors of a House of the Dragon reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Thursday (March 19) as reports claimed that producers confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Why in the world did House of the Dragon end?

When House of the Dragon came to an end, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would a House of the Dragon reunion disappoint people?

House of the Dragon is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Smith said he's not sure if House of the Dragon would work today. “I don't want to see old Daemon Targaryen,” he told a journalist (Smith turned 43 in October). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.

Still hoping for a House of the Dragon movie?

In a recent interview, Matt Smith said he can't imagine a House of the Dragon reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Olivia Cooke (who played Alicent Hightower) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a House of the Dragon movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

What about a House of the Dragon reboot?

Recasting House of the Dragon for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
