Can you believe it's been 14 years since Jessie first aired?! (14 years, 6 months, 6 days to be exact.)
Why in the world did Jessie end?
When Jessie came to an end after 5 years in October 2015, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Luke Ross (Cameron Boyce), Jessie Prescott (Debby Ryan) and Emma Ross (Peyton List). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Jessie without Luke Ross?
After the tragic passing of Cameron Boyce in 2019 how are the writers going to handle the absence of Luke Ross. It seems pretty hard to imagine. “The right thing to do for the show, at least at this point, is to have that character pass,” a source close to the production says.
Would a Jessie reunion disappoint people?
Jessie aired from 2011-2015 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But List said she's not sure if Jessie would work today. “I don't want to see old Emma Ross,” she told a journalist (List turned 28 in April). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” she added.
Still hoping for a Jessie movie?
In a recent interview, Peyton List said she can't imagine a Jessie reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Kevin Chamberlin (who played Bertram since 2011) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Jessie movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be a Jessie film, Debby Ryan stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
What about a Jessie reboot?
Recasting Jessie for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
Be it in the form of a Jessie reunion, a Jessie movie, or a Jessie reboot, if you had to start filming today, who would you cast in what role?
