Rumors of a Melissa & Joey reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Sunday (April 5) as reports claimed that ABC Family confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Can you believe it's been 15 years since Melissa & Joey first aired?! (15 years, 7 months, 20 days to be exact.)

Why in the world did Melissa & Joey end?

When Melissa & Joey came to an end after 5 years in August 2015, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Joe (Joey Lawrence), Mel (Melissa Joan Hart), Ryder Scanlon (Nick Robinson) and Lennox Elizabeth Scanlon (Taylor Spreitler). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would a Melissa & Joey reunion disappoint people?

Melissa & Joey aired from 2010-2015 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Spreitler said she's not sure if Melissa & Joey would work today. “I don't want to see old Lennox Elizabeth Scanlon,” she told a journalist (Spreitler turned 32 in October). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” she added.

Still hoping for a Melissa & Joey movie?

In a recent interview, Rachel Fox (who played Holly Reback between 2011 and 2012) said she can't imagine a Melissa & Joey reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Megan Hilty (who played Tiffany Longo) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Melissa & Joey movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be a Melissa & Joey film, Taylor Spreitler stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”

What about a Melissa & Joey reboot?

Recasting Melissa & Joey for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
