‘Narcos’ Reunion 2027 — Is It Happening?

Rumors of a Narcos reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Wednesday (April 8) as reports claimed that Netflix confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Can you believe it's been 10 years since Narcos first aired?! (10 years, 7 months, 12 days to be exact.)

Why in the world did Narcos end?

When Narcos came to an end after 3 years in September 2017, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), Javier Peña (Pedro Pascal) and Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would a Narcos reunion disappoint people?

Narcos aired from 2015-2017 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Moura said he's not sure if Narcos would work today. “I don't want to see old Pablo Escobar,” he told a journalist (Moura turned 49 in June). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.

Still hoping for a Narcos movie?

In a recent interview, Wagner Moura said he can't imagine a Narcos reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Miguel Ángel Silvestre (who played Franklin Jurado until 2017) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Narcos movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be a Narcos film, Juan Pablo Raba stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”

What about a Narcos reboot?

Recasting Narcos for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
