Rumors of a New Girl reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Sunday (March 22) as reports claimed that Fox confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Can you believe it's been 14 years since New Girl first aired?! (14 years, 6 months, 3 days to be exact.)
Why in the world did New Girl end?
When New Girl came to an end after 7 years in May 2018, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Cece Parekh (Hannah Simone), Nick Miller (Jake Johnson), Winston Bishop (Lamorne Morris), Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Would a New Girl reunion disappoint people?
New Girl aired from 2011-2018 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Deschanel said she's not sure if New Girl would work today. “I don't want to see old Jessica Day,” she told a journalist (Deschanel turned 46 in January). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” she added.
Still hoping for a New Girl movie?
In a recent interview, Merritt Wever (who played Elizabeth in 2013) said she can't imagine a New Girl reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Damon Wayans, Jr. (who played Coach) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a New Girl movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be a New Girl film, David Walton stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
What about a New Girl reboot?
Recasting New Girl for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
Be it in the form of a New Girl reunion, a New Girl movie, or a New Girl reboot, if you had to start filming today, who would you cast in what role?
