‘Outcast’ Reunion 2027 — Is It Happening?

Rumors of a Outcast reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Monday (May 4) as reports claimed that Cinemax confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Can you believe it's been 9 years since Outcast first aired?! (9 years, 11 months, 2 days to be exact.)

Why in the world did Outcast end?

When Outcast came to an end after 2 years in July 2017, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit) and John Anderson (Philip Glenister). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would an Outcast reunion disappoint people?

Outcast aired from 2016-2017 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Glenister said he's not sure if Outcast would work today. “I don't want to see old John Anderson,” he told a journalist (Glenister turned 63 in February). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.

Still hoping for an Outcast movie?

In a recent interview, Scott Porter (who played Donnie Hamel until 2016) said he can't imagine an Outcast reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Patrick Fugit has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did an Outcast movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be an Outcast film, Brent Spiner stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”

What about an Outcast reboot?

Recasting Outcast for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
