‘Outlander’ Reunion 2027 — Is It Happening?

Rumors of a Outlander reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Saturday (April 4) as reports claimed that Starz confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Can you believe it's been 11 years since Outlander first aired?! (11 years, 7 months, 27 days to be exact.)

Why in the world did Outlander end?

When Outlander came to an end after 9 years in May 2023, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would an Outlander reunion disappoint people?

Outlander aired from 2014-2023 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Verbeek said she's not sure if Outlander would work today. “I don't want to see old Geillis Duncan,” she told a journalist (Verbeek turned 43 in June). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” she added.

Still hoping for an Outlander movie?

In a recent interview, Frances de la Tour (who played Mother Hildegarde in 2016) said she can't imagine an Outlander reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Sam Heughan has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did an Outlander movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be an Outlander film, Gary Lewis stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”

What about an Outlander reboot?

Recasting Outlander for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
