‘Peaky Blinders’ Reunion 2027 — Is It Happening?

Rumors of a Peaky Blinders reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Saturday (April 4) as reports claimed that BBC Two confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Why in the world did Peaky Blinders end?

When Peaky Blinders came to an end after 9 years in April 2022, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Chester Campbell (Sam Neill), Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), Polly (Helen McCrory) and Arthur Shelby, Jr. (Paul Anderson). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Peaky Blinders without Polly?

After the tragic passing of Helen McCrory in 2021 how are the writers going to handle the absence of Polly. It seems pretty hard to imagine. “The right thing to do for the show, at least at this point, is to have that character pass,” a source close to the production says.

Would a Peaky Blinders reunion disappoint people?

Peaky Blinders aired from 2013-2022 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Anderson said he's not sure if Peaky Blinders would work today. “I don't want to see old Arthur Shelby, Jr.,” he told a journalist (Anderson turned 48 in February). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.

Still hoping for a Peaky Blinders movie?

In a recent interview, Sam Neill said he can't imagine a Peaky Blinders reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Natasha O'Keeffe (who played Lizzie Starke) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Peaky Blinders movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be a Peaky Blinders film, Tom Hardy stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”

What about a Peaky Blinders reboot?

Recasting Peaky Blinders for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
