Rumors of a Princess and I reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Thursday (January 1) as reports claimed that ABS-CBN confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Can you believe it's been 13 years since Princess and I first aired?! (13 years, 8 months, 17 days to be exact.)
Why in the world did Princess and I end?
When Princess and I came to an end after 1 year in February 2013, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to King Anand Wangchuk (Albert Martinez), Gerald Antonio Dela Rosa (Daniel Padilla), Dasho Jan Alfonso Rinpoche (Enrique Gil), Ashi Behati Rinpoche (Gretchen Barretto) and Maria Mikaela Maghirang (Kathryn Bernardo). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Would a Princess and I reunion disappoint people?
Princess and I aired from 2012-2013 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Martinez said he's not sure if Princess and I would work today. “I don't want to see old King Anand Wangchuk,” he told a journalist (Martinez turned 64 in April). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.
Still hoping for a Princess and I movie?
In a recent interview, Albert Martinez said he can't imagine a Princess and I reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Kathryn Bernardo has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Princess and I movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be a Princess and I film, Daniel Padilla stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
What about a Princess and I reboot?
Recasting Princess and I for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
Be it in the form of a Princess and I reunion, a Princess and I movie, or a Princess and I reboot, if you had to start filming today, who would you cast in what role?
