Rumors of a Strawberries with Sugar reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Friday (April 19) as reports claimed that TVI confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2025.

Can you believe it's been 20 years since Strawberries with Sugar first aired?! (20 years, 7 months, 21 days to be exact.)
Why in the world did Strawberries with Sugar end?
When Strawberries with Sugar came to an end after 10 years in September 2012, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Lourenço Carneiro Seixas (David Carreira), Ana Luísa Rochinha (Cláudia Vieira), Simão Navarro (Pedro Teixeira) and Joana Duarte (Benedita Pereira). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Would a Strawberries with Sugar reunion disappoint people?
Strawberries with Sugar aired from 2003-2012 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Teixeira said he's not sure if Strawberries with Sugar would work today. “I don't want to see old Simão Navarro,” he told a journalist (Teixeira turned 43 in December). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.
Still hoping for a Strawberries with Sugar movie?
In a recent interview, Sara Matos (who played Margarida Bacelar between 2009 and 2010) said she can't imagine a Strawberries with Sugar reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Lourenço Ortigão (who played Rui Oliveira between 2009 and 2010) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Strawberries with Sugar movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be a Strawberries with Sugar film, Gabriela Barros stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
What about a Strawberries with Sugar reboot?
Recasting Strawberries with Sugar for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
Be it in the form of a Strawberries with Sugar reunion, a Strawberries with Sugar movie, or a Strawberries with Sugar reboot, if you had to start filming today, who would you cast in what role?
