Rumors of a the Knick reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Thursday (March 28) as reports claimed that Cinemax confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2025.

Can you believe it's been 9 years since the Knick first aired?! (9 years, 7 months, 21 days to be exact.)

Why in the world did the Knick end?

When the Knick came to an end after 2 years in December 2015, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Dr. Algernon C. Edwards (André Holland), Dr. John W. Thackery (Clive Owen), Lucy Elkins (Eve Hewson) and Cornelia Robertson (Juliet Rylance). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would a Knick reunion disappoint people?

The Knick aired from 2014-2015 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Owen said he's not sure if the Knick would work today. “I don't want to see old Dr. John W. Thackery,” he told a journalist (Owen turned 59 in October). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.

Still hoping for a Knick movie?

In a recent interview, André Holland said he can't imagine a Knick reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Eric Johnson (who played Dr. Everett Gallinger) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Knick movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be a Knick film, Chris Sullivan stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”

What about a Knick reboot?

Recasting the Knick for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
