‘The Last Man on Earth’ Reunion 2027 — Is It Happening?

Rumors of a the Last Man on Earth reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Friday (April 3) as reports claimed that Fox confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

When the Last Man on Earth came to an end after 4 years in May 2018, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Melissa Chartres (January Jones), Carol (Kristen Schaal) and Tandy (Will Forte). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would a Last Man on Earth reunion disappoint people?

The Last Man on Earth aired from 2015-2018 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Jones said she's not sure if the Last Man on Earth would work today. “I don't want to see old Melissa Chartres,” she told a journalist (Jones turned 48 in January). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” she added.

In a recent interview, Chris Elliott (who played Glenn since 2017) said he can't imagine a Last Man on Earth reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Boris Kodjoe (who played Phil until 2016) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Last Man on Earth movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be a Last Man on Earth film, Kristen Wiig stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
