‘The Untamed’ Reunion 2027 — Is It Happening?

Rumors of a the Untamed reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Thursday (March 19) as reports claimed that producers confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Why in the world did the Untamed end?

When the Untamed came to an end after 1 year in August 2019, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Lan Wangji (Wang Yibo) and Wei Wuxian (Xiao Zhan). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

Would a Untamed reunion disappoint people?

The Untamed aired from 2019-2019 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Yibo said he's not sure if the Untamed would work today. “I don't want to see old Lan Wangji,” he told a journalist (Yibo turned 28 in August). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.

Still hoping for a Untamed movie?

In a recent interview, Wang Yibo said he can't imagine a Untamed reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”

Co-star Xiao Zhan has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Untamed movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

What about a Untamed reboot?

Recasting the Untamed for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
