Rumors of a Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Monday (April 6) as reports claimed that Netflix confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

When Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt came to an end after 4 years in January 2019, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Kimmy Schmidt (Ellie Kemper). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Would an Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt reunion disappoint people?
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt aired from 2015-2019 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Kemper said she's not sure if Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt would work today. “I don't want to see old Kimmy Schmidt,” she told a journalist (Kemper turned 45 in May). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” she added.

In a recent interview, Fred Armisen (who played Robert Durst between 2016 and 2017) said he can't imagine an Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Gil Birmingham (who played Virgil between 2015 and 2017) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did an Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be an Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt film, Carol Kane stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
