‘Vikings’ Reunion 2027 — Is It Happening?

Rumors of a Vikings reunion had the internet in a frenzy on Wednesday (April 8) as reports claimed that History confirmed a revival of the popular sitcom for 2027.

Can you believe it's been 13 years since Vikings first aired?! (13 years, 1 month, 6 days to be exact.)
Why in the world did Vikings end?
When Vikings came to an end after 8 years in December 2020, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), Siggy (Jessalyn Gilsig), Rollo (Clive Standen), Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) and Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Would a Vikings reunion disappoint people?
Vikings aired from 2013-2020 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Skarsgard said he's not sure if Vikings would work today. “I don't want to see old Floki,” he told a journalist (Skarsgard turned 45 in November). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.
Still hoping for a Vikings movie?
In a recent interview, Clive Standen said he can't imagine a Vikings reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Gabriel Byrne (who played Earl Haraldson in 2013) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Vikings movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be a Vikings film, Donal Logue stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
What about a Vikings reboot?
Recasting Vikings for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
Be it in the form of a Vikings reunion, a Vikings movie, or a Vikings reboot, if you had to start filming today, who would you cast in what role?
