Why in the world did Joan of Arc end?
When Joan of Arc came to an end, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Isabelle of Arc (Jacqueline Bisset), Joan of Arc (Leelee Sobieski), Pierre Cauchon (Peter O'Toole) and Jacques of Arc (Powers Boothe). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Joan of Arc without Pierre Cauchon and Jacques of Arc?
After the tragic passing of Peter O'Toole in 2013 and Powers Boothe in 2017 how are the writers going to handle the absence of Pierre Cauchon and Jacques of Arc. It seems pretty hard to imagine. “The right thing to do for the show, at least at this point, is to have that character pass,” a source close to the production says.
Would a Joan of Arc reunion disappoint people?
Joan of Arc is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Sobieski said she's not sure if Joan of Arc would work today. “I don't want to see old Joan of Arc,” she told a journalist (Sobieski turned 41 in June). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” she added.
Still hoping for a Joan of Arc movie?
In a recent interview, Shirley MacLaine (who played Madame de Beaurevoir) said she can't imagine a Joan of Arc reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Neil Patrick Harris (who played Charles VII) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Joan of Arc movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be a Joan of Arc film, Leelee Sobieski stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
What about a Joan of Arc reboot?
Recasting Joan of Arc for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
Be it in the form of a Joan of Arc reunion, a Joan of Arc movie, or a Joan of Arc reboot, if you had to start filming today, who would you cast in what role?
