Can you believe it's been 34 years since Law & Order first aired?! (34 years, 1 month, 20 days to be exact.)
Why in the world did Law & Order end?
When Law & Order came to an end after 20 years in May 2010, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Nick Falco (Michael Imperioli) and Mike Logan (Chris Noth). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.
Would a Law & Order reunion disappoint people?
Law & Order aired from 1990-2010 and is considered one of the most influential TV shows ever on pop culture. Although no original episodes have been shot since, it has remained a regular feature on many station's schedules. But Imperioli said he's not sure if Law & Order would work today. “I don't want to see old Nick Falco,” he told a journalist (Imperioli turned 58 in March). “Everyone’s going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people,” he added.
Still hoping for a Law & Order movie?
In a recent interview, Benjamin Bratt (who played Rey Curtis between 1995 and 1999) said he can't imagine a Law & Order reunion hitting the big screen. “I'd rather people go, ‘Oh, please! Please!’ than ‘I can't believe you did that. It was horrible.’”
Co-star Carey Lowell (who played Jamie Ross between 1996 and 2001) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Law & Order movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”
On the subject of whether there could be a Law & Order film, Alana de la Garza stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
What about a Law & Order reboot?
Recasting Law & Order for a modern reboot. Hollywood is known for remaking remakes of films or tv series and the studios might think it would be great to bring the story back with a new set of characters.
Be it in the form of a Law & Order reunion, a Law & Order movie, or a Law & Order reboot, if you had to start filming today, who would you cast in what role?
