When the Sopranos came to an end after 9 years in June 2007, million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini). And since then, they have been itching for a reunion.

After the tragic passing of James Gandolfini in 2013 how are the writers going to handle the absence of Tony Soprano. It seems pretty hard to imagine. “The right thing to do for the show, at least at this point, is to have that character pass,” a source close to the production says.

Co-star Steven Van Zandt (who played Silvio Dante) has also previously explained, “It would be terrible to do something and have it not be good,”. “It was so terrific ... If we did a Sopranos movie and it sucked, then it would, you know, blemish it.”

On the subject of whether there could be a Sopranos film, Drea de Matteo stated : “I think it's a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.”
