It has been exactly 8 long years since Former Indian president A. P. J. Abdul Kalam died in Shillong on July 27, 2015 at the age of 83. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed politicians of his generation.

Today, fans of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam along with the rest of the world have been remembering the iconic man he was.

Kalam, a cultural icon

Born Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam in Rameswaram on October 15, 1931, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Indian history. Kalam was not just a great politician, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
