Is the 56-year-old actress officially back on the market?

Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Cate Blanchett, 56, and her partner had split up. Is the actress best known for her roles in Carol, Blue Jasmine, The Aviator or Elizabeth really single again?

Blanchett spotted alone

A fan spotted Cate Blanchett walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of January 19, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Cate back on the market?

A rep for Cate Blanchett was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the actress was splitting hit the internet Tuesday (January 20), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
