It has been exactly 6 long years since Stéphane Audran died in Paris on March 27, 2018 at the age of 85. As a number of online tributes attest, she was one of the most acclaimed actresses of her generation.

Today, fans of Stéphane Audran (Babette's Feast, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, ...) along with the rest of the film industry have been remembering the iconic woman she was.

Audran, a cultural icon

Born Colette Suzanne Jeannine Dacheville in Versailles on November 8, 1932, her career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Audran was not just a great actress, she was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1972 she touched the hearts of millions as Alice Sénéchal in ‘The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie’. Her legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering her unique heritage.
