Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Amélie Nothomb, 58, and her partner had split up. Is the author of the Prince's Act, Fear and Trembling and Hygiene and the Assassin really single again?

Nothomb spotted alone

A fan spotted Amélie Nothomb walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of February 26, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Amélie back on the market?

A rep for Amélie Nothomb was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the author was splitting hit the internet Friday (February 27), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
