It has been exactly 7 long years since Andrew Sachs died in London on November 23, 2016 at the age of 86. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.

Sachs, a cultural icon

Born Andreas Siegfried Sachs in Berlin on April 7, 1930, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in British history. Sachs was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1975 he touched the hearts of millions as Manuel in ‘Fawlty Towers’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
