It has been exactly 4 long years since Bill Withers died in Los Angeles on March 30, 2020 at the age of 81. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed singers of his generation.

Withers, a cultural icon
Born William Harrison Withers in Slab Fork on July 4, 1938, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Withers was not just a great singer, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1971 he touched the hearts of millions with ‘Ain't No Sunshine’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.
