It has been exactly 44 long years since Bob Marley died in Miami on May 11, 1981 at the age of 36. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed singers of his generation.
Today, fans of Bob Marley (No Woman, No Cry, I Shot the Sheriff, Get Up, Stand Up, ...) along with the rest of the music world have been remembering the iconic man he was.
Marley, a cultural icon
Born in Nine Miles on February 6, 1945, Bob Marley's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in Jamaican history. Marley was not just a great singer, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1973 he touched the hearts of millions with ‘Get Up, Stand Up’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.
It's been 44 years since the tragic loss of Bob Marley and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Bob Marley is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
