Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Chloé Zhao, 44, and her partner had split up. Is the director best known for the movie Nomadland really single again?

Zhao spotted alone

A fan spotted Chloé Zhao walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of May 19, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Chloé back on the market?

A rep for Chloé Zhao was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the director was splitting hit the internet Wednesday (May 20), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
