Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Chris Evert, 71, and her partner had split up. Is the American tennis player really single again?

Evert spotted alone

A fan spotted Chris Evert walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of May 28, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Chris back on the market?

A rep for Chris Evert was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the tennis player - known for having been romantically involved with Burt Reynolds - was splitting hit the internet Friday (May 29), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
