It has been exactly 64 long years since Clark Gable died in Los Angeles on November 16, 1960 at the age of 59. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation.
Today, fans of Clark Gable (Gone with the Wind, ...) along with the rest of the film industry have been remembering the iconic man he was.
Gable, a cultural icon
Born William Clark Gable in Cadiz on February 1, 1901, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Gable was not just a great actor, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
In 1939 he touched the hearts of millions as Rhett Butler in ‘Gone with the Wind’. His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
