Is the 84-year-old screenwriter officially back on the market?

Are celebrities more likely to divorce or break up? Earlier this week news reports surfaced that Danièle Thompson, 84, and her partner had split up. Is the screenwriter best known for her script for Ready for Love, the Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob or La Grande Vadrouille really single again?

Thompson spotted alone

A fan spotted Danièle Thompson walking alone, probably coming back from picking up her mail at the end of her several mile long driveway, on the afternoon of February 20, 2026. Was she all alone? “Definitely yes,” says the fan, adding that “She was wearing a large sweater and looked really cute!”

Is Danièle back on the market?

A rep for Danièle Thompson was not immediately available for comment.

Truth or rumor, when news that the screenwriter was splitting hit the internet Saturday (February 21), Twitter immediately exploded with pithy commentary. It seems everyone had an opinion on the matter:
