David Sanborn died in Tarrytown on May 12, 2024 at the age of 78. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed musicians of his generation.

Sanborn, a cultural icon

Born in Tampa on July 30, 1945, David Sanborn's career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in American history. Sanborn was not just a great musician, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.

In 1995 he touched the hearts of millions with ‘Pearls’. His legacy will continue to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique musical heritage.

Although David Sanborn is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
