It has been exactly 14 long years since Éric Rohmer died in Paris on January 11, 2010 at the age of 89. As a number of online tributes attest, he was one of the most acclaimed directors of his generation.
Today, fans of Éric Rohmer (Six Moral Tales, ...) along with the rest of the film industry have been remembering the iconic man he was.
Rohmer, a cultural icon
Born Maurice Henri Joseph Schérer in Tulle on March 21, 1920, his career spanned an arc over many different eras and tastes in French history. Rohmer was not just a great director, he was an icon, an all-around inspiration to everyone.
His legacy continues to grow as new generations of fans are discovering his unique heritage.
It's been 14 years since the tragic loss of Éric Rohmer and his personality still resonate strongly within us all. Although Éric Rohmer is no longer physically here, his presence is more powerful than ever. He left a void that has yet to be filled.
